Have Claude Duet tell you what your store actually earned
Claude Duet is Anthropic's proactive agent, announced on 21 October 2026. It writes you a brief each morning from your connected apps, checks them through the day and messages you when something needs a decision. Add MerchantFlow to your Claude account as a connector and Duet can read the same P&L, margins, ROAS and COGS your dashboard shows, over a read-only connection, before it tells you how the store is doing.

Free for 14 days. Connect your store, add one URL to Claude, send Duet one message.
As of the date above, Claude Duet is a research preview for Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the United States. Access is by waitlist, invitations go out in waves, and it is not on Team or Enterprise plans yet. Duet works from the connectors in your Claude account, so MerchantFlow joins it as a custom connector you add to Claude by URL; MerchantFlow is not in Claude's connector directory. Not invited yet? The same connector works in an ordinary Claude chat today.
What you can ask once it is connected
“Put yesterday's real profit in my morning brief, and flag any product that lost money on ads.”
Yesterday the store took A$4,180 and kept A$1,020 as net profit after product cost, fees, shipping and A$1,240 of ad spend, as of MerchantFlow's 6:10 am sync. One flag: Linen Runner sold 14 units through Meta at 2.1x ROAS against a break-even of 2.9x, so it lost about A$72 once ad spend is counted. Everything else cleared break-even. I have added a task to review that campaign before its budget goes up, and these figures will be in tomorrow's brief.
Example exchange, shown to illustrate the shape and level of detail. Your figures come from your own connected store, and what goes into your brief, and when, is up to Duet.
Also try
- Every morning, give me yesterday's net profit, ad spend and blended MER.
- Which products lost money once ad spend is counted, over the last 30 days?
- Build me a dashboard of this month's profit by product.
- Before I pay this supplier invoice, show me what that product earned this quarter.
- Which of my products have no cost of goods set?
Why it matters more with a proactive agent
Duet decides what needs you. Give it the real numbers.
A chat answers when you ask. Claude Duet comes to you: Anthropic says it reviews your connected apps each morning, ranks what matters, checks in through the day and only messages you when something needs you. For a store owner that brief becomes the first read on the business each day, often before the dashboard, so what Duet is looking at when it writes it matters.
Without MerchantFlow, Duet sees the store the way your other apps describe it: order emails, payout notices, an ad platform's attributed revenue, a Shopify order list if you have connected one. None of those is a P&L, and a quiet brief built from them can mean a good day or a day nobody costed. MerchantFlow gives Duet one call that returns the reconciled number, with the sync time and the caveats attached.
What Duet can see on its own
Duet reads the apps you connect and browses the sites you have not. Reading is not reconciling.
- Order confirmations and payout notices in Gmail, one message at a time
- Your store's orders through a Shopify connector or its own browser, with no product cost against them
- Each ad platform's spend and attributed revenue, but not what the products cost to buy, ship or refund
- Nothing that joins them in your store currency and timezone, and no sync time to tell a settled figure from a stale one
What MerchantFlow adds
- One MCP call returns P&L, contribution margin, ROAS, MER and COGS coverage, already reconciled to your store currency and timezone
- Every response carries the last successful sync time and flags itself when the data is more than a day old, so Duet can caveat a brief rather than guess
- Read-only access to your store data: Duet can read figures and reason about them, never change an order, a cost, a product or a store setting, so an instruction hidden in an email it reads cannot do that through MerchantFlow either
- Customer personal details are redacted from tool responses by default, so a question about orders does not hand an agent your customer list
- Meta, Google, TikTok and Snapchat spend side by side, joined to your orders by day, exactly as your dashboard shows them

Connect Claude Duet to your store's profit in four steps
Duet has no connector settings of its own. It works from the connectors in your Claude account, so you add MerchantFlow to Claude once, then tell Duet what to use it for. This is the URL Claude asks for.
https://merchantflow.ai/api/mcp
- No client ID or secret
- OAuth sign-in
- Read-only store data
- Shopify and WooCommerce
- 01
Start your free trial and connect your store
Create a MerchantFlow account and connect Shopify or WooCommerce plus your ad accounts. Your first P&L builds while you do the next step, and the trial includes the MCP connection.
- 02
Add MerchantFlow to Claude
On a computer, open claude.ai or Claude Desktop and go to Customize, then Connectors. Click Add, then Add custom connector, name it MerchantFlow, paste the URL above and click Continue. Anthropic describes adding connectors on mobile as a beta, so a computer is the reliable route.
- 03
Sign in and allow access
Choose Sign in now, keep Use Claude's published identity, leave Request headers empty and click Add. Sign in to MerchantFlow and click Allow access; the consent screen shows claude.ai as the app asking. There is no client ID or secret to enter.
- 04
Send Duet one message
Open Duet on your phone or at claude.ai and send the message below. Duet checks the connection with list_capabilities, answers a first question, and from then on knows when to use MerchantFlow.
The message for Duet
Duet keeps one ongoing thread and carries your Claude memory, so this only needs sending once. Change the morning brief line to suit how you work.
Use the MerchantFlow connector in my Claude account for my store's numbers. It is read-only. - Any question about my store's profit, margins, ad spend, ROAS or product costs goes to MerchantFlow first. Quote the last sync time with every figure. - In my morning brief, include yesterday's net profit, ad spend and blended MER from MerchantFlow. - During the day, only message me about the store if MerchantFlow shows a product losing money after ad spend or flags an anomaly. Start by calling list_capabilities to confirm MerchantFlow is connected, then tell me which product made the least profit in the last 30 days.
- Send it once
- Uses your Claude connector
- Read-only
- iPhone, Android and web
Anthropic's Duet help article says Duet works with the apps connected in your Claude account and names Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign and Calendly. As of the date at the top of this page it does not mention custom connectors by name, which is why the message starts with list_capabilities. If Duet says it cannot find MerchantFlow, check that MerchantFlow shows as connected under Customize, Connectors in Claude, and ask the same question in an ordinary Claude chat. If it works there but not in Duet, email [email protected], and tell Duet in the chat too: Anthropic says Duet passes feedback to its team.
On the MerchantFlow side this is included on every paid plan, trials included. Starter reads 90 days of history, Pro reads 12 months, and Plus and Agency read your full history. On the Claude side, Duet is included with Pro and Max at no extra cost during the research preview, and Anthropic says its background work, including the morning brief and check-ins, counts toward your plan's usage limits.
Why connect it

| Your Shopify or WooCommerce orders | Through a Shopify connector or its browser, one view at a time | Every order, synced and searchable |
| What each product cost to buy, ship and sell | No | Yes, from your COGS, shipping and fee data |
| Meta, Google, TikTok and Snapchat ad spend together | Only by opening each ad platform | Yes, joined to your orders by day |
| Net profit, contribution margin and blended MER | No | Yes, the same figures as your dashboard |
| Profit in the morning brief | Whatever your inbox and other apps say about sales | Net profit, ad spend and MER, when you ask Duet to include them |
| Last sync time on every figure | No | Yes, so stale data is flagged, not guessed at |

What Claude Duet is connecting to
- Transport
- MCP over streamable HTTP. The current 2026-07-28 revision is negotiated per request, with every revision back to 2024-11-05 still supported.
- Authorisation
- OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and a browser consent step. Claude identifies itself with its published client metadata document, the option its connector dialog marks Recommended, and dynamic client registration also works. There is no client ID or secret to enter.
- Scopes
- Granular read scopes for P&L, products, ads, orders, customers, COGS and more. Store data is read-only: no scope lets Duet change an order, a cost, a product or a store setting.
- Endpoint
- Public HTTPS. Claude calls custom connectors from Anthropic's cloud rather than from your phone or computer, which is what lets Duet use one while the app is closed. Nothing runs on your machine.
- Responses
- Every response carries the last successful sync time and your store currency, and flags itself when the sync is more than a day old.

Store owners who trust MerchantFlow with their numbers
Verified reviews from the Shopify App Store, the same ones shown on the homepage.
MerchantFlow has become one of the most valuable tools in my business. As a tradie building Mech Tools from the ground up, understanding true profitability is critical. MerchantFlow gives me clear, accurate data that helps me make better business decisions.

I've tried quite a few of these profit tracker apps (even tried making one myself), but honestly, none of them offer what MerchantFlow does and the ones that come close cost 10x the monthly price. My favorite feature by far is the integration with my 3PL, so the data I'm seeing is the actual data not a guess.

I've been using MerchantFlow for the last six months in order to better understand my brand's profitability. The tool has without a doubt been super insightful and allowed me to make changes within the business that have nearly doubled our brand's monthly profit. This is the best profit analysis and optimisation tool going around for any ecommerce brand owner right now.

Its super important for me to know my numbers down the the exact percentage and I can trust Merchant Flow to get it right. I've used other softwares in the past but none of them have half of the features this does and always end up not being correct. Highly recommend using it if you're running an ecommerce store.

When Duet is the shopper
Claude Duet orders in your P&L
Duet also buys things for the people who use it. Anthropic says it pays for purchases its user approves with Shop Pay, Shopify's wallet, or Link by Stripe, both connected inside Duet, and that each purchase uses a one-time card that works only for that purchase. Some sites block Duet from paying, in which case its user finishes the purchase themselves. Anthropic sends shoppers to the store for order status, delivery, returns and refunds, and to Anthropic when Duet picked a different product, store, quantity or option than they asked for.
For your numbers, a Duet purchase is an order like any other. MerchantFlow builds your P&L from synced Shopify and WooCommerce orders rather than pixels, so every Duet order is netted against its product cost, payment fee, shipping, tax and refunds. Anthropic has not published how a Duet order is labelled in a store's admin.
One honest limit: MerchantFlow does not currently label orders by sales channel, so a Duet order is counted in full but cannot be filtered on its own yet.
About Claude Duet
Claude Duet at a glance
- What it is
- Anthropic's proactive agent. You message it by typing or by voice, and it works on its own cloud computer with the apps you connect, sends a morning brief, checks in through the day and asks before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything.
- Announced
- 21 October 2026, as a research preview for Pro and Max subscribers in the United States. Access is by waitlist, with invitations sent in waves. Not on Team or Enterprise plans yet.
- Where it runs
- Its own app for iPhone and Android, and on the web at claude.ai, per Anthropic's product page. Work keeps running in the cloud after you close the app.
- Model
- Claude Opus 5.5. You cannot choose the model; Duet decides how much effort each job needs.
- Pricing
- Included with Pro and Max at no extra cost during the preview. It draws on your plan's five-hour and weekly usage limits, background work included. Admitted users get one full limit reset, usable until 30 November 2026.
- Connectors
- The apps connected in your Claude account. Anthropic names Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign, Calendly and Stripe, and Duet supports plugins. Microsoft 365 is not available yet. Sites with no connector are reached through Duet's own cloud browser.
- Payments
- Shop Pay and Link by Stripe, connected inside Duet and available only there for now. Each purchase needs its user's approval and uses a one-time card that works only for that purchase.
- What it will not do
- Make phone calls or send texts, trade securities, move money between accounts or access someone else's account, even with approval. You cannot watch or take over its browser.
Common questions
How do I connect Claude Duet to MerchantFlow?
Start a MerchantFlow trial and connect your store. Then on claude.ai or in Claude Desktop open Customize, then Connectors, click Add, then Add custom connector, paste the MerchantFlow URL from this page, sign in to MerchantFlow and click Allow access. Duet works from the connectors in your Claude account, so finish by sending Duet the message on this page; it checks the connection with list_capabilities first.
Does Claude Duet use custom connectors?
Anthropic says Duet works with the apps you have connected in Claude and keeps your memory, skills and connectors. As of the date at the top of this page, its Duet help article names directory connectors and does not mention custom connectors by name. That is why the message on this page asks Duet to call list_capabilities first: if Duet can see MerchantFlow it lists the tools, and if it cannot you know straight away. Email [email protected] if MerchantFlow works in a Claude chat but not in Duet.
I am not invited to Claude Duet yet. Can I still use this?
Yes. The connector works in ordinary Claude chats as soon as you add it, on claude.ai and in Claude Desktop. Claude Duet itself is a research preview for Pro and Max subscribers in the United States, by waitlist, so until your invitation arrives, ask the same questions in a Claude chat.
Is MerchantFlow in Claude's connector directory?
Not yet. You add MerchantFlow as a custom connector by its URL, which gives the same server and the same read-only access a directory listing would. Anthropic notes that it does not verify custom connectors, so only add ones from organisations you trust.
Can Duet change anything in my store through MerchantFlow?
No. Store data is read-only over this connection: no scope lets Duet change an order, a cost, a product or a store setting. Duet's own connectors to Shopify, Stripe, QuickBooks or your email are separate and governed by the permissions you give them in Claude, not by MerchantFlow. Anthropic says Duet asks before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything.
Does Anthropic see my store's data?
Duet receives the answers MerchantFlow returns to the questions it asks, not a copy of your database. Raw order rows, customer records and cost tables stay on MerchantFlow, and customer personal details are redacted by default. Claude calls the connector from Anthropic's cloud, and how Anthropic handles your Duet conversations is set by its own terms and your Claude privacy settings, which MerchantFlow cannot control. If that is not acceptable for your store's figures, do not connect Duet.
Will it use up my Claude usage limits?
Some. Anthropic says Duet uses your plan's five-hour and weekly limits at the same rate as Claude chats, and that its background work, including the morning brief and check-ins, counts too. A profit line in every brief is one more thing for Duet to fetch each morning.
How much does it cost?
MerchantFlow is free for 14 days, then plans start at US$49 a month, and every paid plan includes the Claude connection. Claude Duet is included with Claude Pro and Max at no extra cost during the research preview, per Anthropic.
Can Duet tell me when something changes in my store?
You can ask it to, and the message on this page does. Anthropic says Duet checks your accounts at set intervals and can misjudge what is urgent or miss something that arrives between check-ins, so treat it as a second pair of eyes, not an alarm. MerchantFlow's own anomaly alerts and Daily AI Summary keep arriving by email whether or not Duet is connected.
Will the numbers match my dashboard?
Yes. Duet calls the same calculations the MerchantFlow dashboard uses, so the same question over the same period returns the same figure in both places.
Are the orders Duet places for shoppers counted in my profit?
Yes. A Duet order syncs from Shopify or WooCommerce like any other and is netted against product cost, fees, shipping, tax and refunds. What MerchantFlow does not do yet is label orders by sales channel, so you cannot filter to Duet orders on their own.
Does the same connection work in ChatGPT or Gemini?
Yes. MerchantFlow is a standard MCP server, so the same account and the same read-only access work in Claude chats, ChatGPT, Gemini, Meta's Muse, Cursor, Windsurf and VS Code as well as Claude Duet.
