The ecommerce data layer for AI

Connect Refersion to Claude and ChatGPT

Refersion pays your affiliates on a schedule, so their commission never reaches the store's own numbers at the time of the sale. MerchantFlow deducts it from every order Refersion tags in Shopify, so your AI answers profit questions with affiliate commissions already counted.

What you can ask once it is connected

“How much did Refersion affiliates cost us this quarter, and did it eat into net profit?”

This quarter your Refersion rules deducted 8,450 across 530 referred orders, 4.4% of net revenue. Net profit after commissions was 27,300; the same orders would have looked 8,450 more profitable without them.

What Refersion alone cannot tell you

Connecting an AI directly to Refersion is genuinely useful, and for some questions it is all you need. It stops being enough the moment the question involves money you spent somewhere else.

  • Shopify orders referred by your Refersion affiliates
  • Affiliate payouts made outside Shopify
  • Cost of goods on the products those orders shipped
  • Your ad spend and operating expenses

What MerchantFlow adds

  • Affiliate commission deducted from each referred order
  • One rule for every affiliate, matched on the rfsn.aff.id tag
  • Individual rates for specific affiliates when you need them
  • Commissions reduced or removed on refunds and cancellations
  • A Commissions line in your P&L, beside payment fees and ad spend

MerchantFlow does not connect to Refersion itself: it reads the tags Refersion writes to your synced Shopify orders and applies the rate you set, so the figures follow your rules rather than Refersion's commission calculations. Refersion's team has to enable order tagging, and only orders tagged after that are counted.

What merchants say

Store owners who trust MerchantFlow with their numbers

Real reviews from merchants running their stores on MerchantFlow.

MerchantFlow has become one of the most valuable tools in my business. As a tradie building Mech Tools from the ground up, understanding true profitability is critical. MerchantFlow gives me clear, accurate data that helps me make better business decisions.

I've tried quite a few of these profit tracker apps (even tried making one myself), but honestly, none of them offer what MerchantFlow does and the ones that come close cost 10x the monthly price. My favorite feature by far is the integration with my 3PL, so the data I'm seeing is the actual data not a guess.

I've been using MerchantFlow for the last six months in order to better understand my brand's profitability. The tool has without a doubt been super insightful and allowed me to make changes within the business that have nearly doubled our brand's monthly profit. This is the best profit analysis and optimisation tool going around for any ecommerce brand owner right now.

Its super important for me to know my numbers down the the exact percentage and I can trust Merchant Flow to get it right. I've used other softwares in the past but none of them have half of the features this does and always end up not being correct. Highly recommend using it if you're running an ecommerce store.

Great app, and perfect for what i need to see all my numbers down to the cent across my 3 warehouses in USA, Australia and NZ. Nimesh is an absolute legend to work with. I highly recommend it! I even include this in my package of useful tools that I recommend to the entrepreneurs I mentor.

How to connect it

  1. 01

    Add a Refersion commission rule

Once Refersion support has turned on order tagging, open Settings > Commissions in MerchantFlow and start from the Refersion template. Referred orders are priced automatically.

  2. 02

Add MerchantFlow to ChatGPT or Claude

In ChatGPT, open MerchantFlow from the plugin directory. In Claude, add it as a connector. Either way you approve read-only access and there is nothing to install. Your dashboard shows the current steps for each client, because the clients move their menus often. In Meta's Muse, ask it to create a custom connector with the MerchantFlow URL. In the Gemini app, add it as a custom app under Settings, Connected Apps.

  3. 03

    Ask in plain English

Your AI now reads the same figures as your dashboard, joined across every source you have connected.

MerchantFlow is listed in ChatGPT's plugin directory

Open the listing in ChatGPT, sign in or start a trial, and approve read-only access. There is no server URL to copy.

About the Refersion integration

Common questions

Does MerchantFlow need access to my Refersion account?

No. Refersion orders are recognised by the tag on your synced Shopify orders, so there is nothing to authorise in Refersion and nothing MerchantFlow can change there. Your AI client gets read-only access to the resulting figures.

Will the numbers match my dashboard?

Yes. Your AI calls the same calculations the MerchantFlow dashboard uses, so the same question over the same period returns the same figure in both places.
