Connect WooCommerce to Claude and ChatGPT
WooCommerce holds your orders, but profit needs your ad spend, your costs and your fees as well. MerchantFlow brings them together so your AI can answer the question you actually asked - and it is built for the realities of self-hosted WordPress.
What you can ask once it is connected
“How did my margin change this month compared with last?”
Contribution margin improved from 16.8% to 19.5%. Revenue was roughly flat at A$94,300, but ad spend fell from 24% to 19% of revenue. COGS held at 41%, so the improvement came from media efficiency rather than pricing.

What WooCommerce alone cannot tell you
Connecting an AI directly to WooCommerce is genuinely useful, and for some questions it is all you need. It stops being enough the moment the question involves money you spent somewhere else.
- Advertising spend from Meta, Google, TikTok and Snapchat
- Cost of goods, which vanilla WooCommerce has no field for at all
- Fulfilment and shipping costs billed after the order shipped
- Operating expenses and amortised one-off costs
What MerchantFlow adds
- Full refund detection that catches the common WooCommerce pattern of flipping an order to refunded without processing a gateway refund - miss it and refunded revenue stays in your net figures
- Per-line refund detail fetched for refunded orders, which the WooCommerce order list does not include
- Order attribution read from WooCommerce's own attribution metadata, available on WooCommerce 8.5 and later
- Payment fees read from Stripe, WooPayments and PayPal order metadata
- Built for slow shared hosting: long request timeouts and automatic retries on gateway errors, because WordPress order pages can take far longer to render than a hosted platform
- Ad spend reconciled to the same day and currency as the orders
WooCommerce stores no cost of goods natively, so automatic COGS sync only finds costs written by a cost-of-goods plugin. Otherwise enter costs in MerchantFlow directly. Product costs are read at product level rather than per variation, and multi-currency conversion currently relies on the YayCurrency plugin's stored rate.
How to connect it
- 01
Connect WooCommerce to MerchantFlow
Authorise WooCommerce from your MerchantFlow integrations page. We start pulling and normalising the data straight away.
- 02
Add MerchantFlow as a connector in Claude or ChatGPT
Approve read-only access from your AI client's connector settings. Nothing to install on your machine. Your dashboard shows the current steps for whichever client you use, because the clients move their menus often.
- 03
Ask in plain English
Your AI now reads the same figures as your dashboard, joined across every source you have connected.
Included on every paid plan, trials included. Starter reads 90 days of history, Pro reads 12 months, and Plus and Agency read your full history.
The tools your AI calls
These are the actual tools MerchantFlow exposes for WooCommerce questions. Every claim on this page maps to one of them.

Can it change anything in WooCommerce?
No. The connection is read-only and no write access exists to grant. Your AI can read figures and reason about them; it cannot create, edit, pause or delete anything.
Will the numbers match my dashboard?
Yes. Your AI calls the same calculations the MerchantFlow dashboard uses, so the same question over the same period returns the same figure in both places.
